WINNIPEG, Manitoba -- The Dickinson State men's basketball team held a slight lead going into the fourth quarter, but it wasn't enough.
Mount Royal outscored the Blue Hawks 34-16 in the fourth quarter en route to an 87-72 third place win in the Wesmen Classic on Sunday at the University of Winnipeg.
Mount Royal went 30 of 60 from the field and had three players score in double figures. Nick Loewen led the way with 21 points and four 3-pointers. Awet Abraha supplied 18 points and Olawafemi Ogun added 14.
For the Blue Hawks (6-9), Johnie Sanders came off the bench to score 20 points, while Ty Ackelson, James Hayden and Jarek Hansen each posted 12.
Despite 25 turnovers, the Cougars held the edge in rebounds (49-39) and assists (16-9). Ogun grabbed 10 rebounds, while Sanders pulled down nine. Mount Royal's Manok Akwl supplied a game-high seven assists.

Mount Royal had a 43-34 lead at halftime, but the Blue Hawks posted a 22-10 advantage in the third quarter.
Teams play four quarters in Canadian college basketball unlike two 20-minutes halves in the American college game.
DSU is back on the road when it travels to Montana State-Northern at 8 p.m. Thursday for its second Frontier Conference game.
