Fourteen North Dakota coaches have been selected as finalists for the National High School Athletic Coaches Association's National Coach of the Year award.
They are: Rich Anderson, cross country, Griggs County; Dan Carr, basketball, Linton; Jeff Fiechtner, baseball, Fargo North; Scott Grochow, track and field, Rugby; Dean Hasbarger, boys soccer, Fargo South; Bob Holmen, track and field, Minot High; Lorell Jungling, athletic director, Mandan; Mike Merritt, gymnastics, Fargo North and Fargo South; Ralph Manley, Mandan, swimming and diving; Mark Murdock, track and field, Bismarck Century; Leland Opp, Hazen, track and field; Julie Stavn, girls cross country, Bismarck Century; Lisa Strand, volleyball, Thompson; and Victor Youngs, tennis, Fargo South.
The NHSACA national awards banquet will be held at the Amway Grand Plaza Hotel in Grand Rapids, Mich., on June 22 in conjunction with the national annual coaches meeting.
