STEELE -- The Hettinger-Scranton baseball team stayed alive in the Region 8 Tournament.
The Night Hawks defeated Central Prairie 9-6 and Kidder County 10-8 in elimination games Tuesday to fight their way back to the championship play-in game against Shiloh Christian at noon Thursday.
Hettinger-Scranton scored nine runs in the first three innings to defeated Central Prairie. Ben Laufer led the Night Hawks going 2-for-2, with three RBIs. McCahen Schweitzer added three walks and three stolen bases.
Laufer grabbed the win for the Night Hawks. Chris Heinrich was tagged with the loss.
In the second game, the Night Hawks held off a hot start from Kidder County and scored two runs in the fourth and sixth innings.

Kye Erickson used a 2-for-4 game with three runs scored. Schweitzer supplied three hits and Chad Mosbrucker added a 3-for-4 performance with four RBIs.
Mosbrucker and Erickson combined for the win on the mound, while Tanner Kessel came on in the fourth and was charged with the loss.
Hettinger-Scranton started the tournament with an 8-7 loss to Shiloh Christian on Monday.
