VELVA -- No. 1-ranked Velva did exactly was it was expected to do Saturday afternoon against Heart River: win and win big.

The Aggies (9-0) scored 40 unanswered points as they cruised to a 47-13 victory over the Cougars, the No. 4 seed from Region 4, in the first round of the Class A football playoffs.

"They're much, much better than I thought," Heart River head coach Dave Hendrickson said. "They're so physical and just an excellent football team. I don't know how you're going to beat them."

Velva's Collin Kittelson rushed for three touchdowns in the first quarter (1, 18 and 4 yards) while Jon Mack added touchdown runs of 42 and 7 yards in the second quarter. Ty Bruner added a 20-yard TD run in the third quarter.

Velva didn't let up though. Bruner returned the ensuing kick 90 yards for a touchdown.

Heart River senior Dalton O'Brien caught a 20-yard touchdown pass from Jarek Haverluk to wrap up the scoring.
