BISMARCK - Back in the state’s capital and facing another ranked team, Dickinson Trinity’s boys basketball team put up a performance more akin to what head coach Gregg Grinsteinner has come to expect.
The No. 8 Titans (10-3, 3-0 Region 7) defeated No. 5 Linton-HMB (9-2, 4-0 Region 3) 55-47 Saturday at the Bismarck Civic Center Jamboree. The win is Trinity’s first against Linton since 2005.
“We knew coming in it would be a full-court game, and that’s what it was,” Grinsteinner said. “Each team was in each other’s grill, and that’s what both our programs are built on.”
Trinity junior guard Lucas Jones led all players with 19 points, aided by a pair of 3-pointers, and senior Brock Messer and junior Shawn Stoltz added 12 and 10 points, respectively. Stoltz also added 10 rebounds for a double-double, and he led the team with four assists.
