BISMARCK - The No. 9-ranked Fargo Oak Grove girls basketball team turned in a 40-25 victory over Dickinson Trinity on Saturday at the Shiloh Invitational.
The Grovers (9-1) shot just 27.8 percent from the field, but Trinity wasn’t much better, at 32.4. Amanda Roller led all players with 15 points for Oak Grove.
“Oak Grove came out hot, and unfortunately for us, we had to deal with that double-digit margin most of the way,” Trinity head coach Carter Fong said.
The Grovers committed 16 personal fouls, but Trinity (3-7) couldn’t take advantage, going just 1 of 12 at the free-throw line.
“Our free throw struggles are frustrating,” Fong said. “We shoot a ton of them in practice, so it’s a bit of a mental block.”

Lauren Stafford, Jordie McNeilly and Abby Jones each scored six points for the Titans. McNeilly also grabbed six rebounds, tied for the game-high with teammate Sami Daniel.
“In terms of sweat and energy spent, the effort was right up there among the best of our season,” Fong said. “That’s a pretty dynamic offense that we held to 40 points, and we did it while our own shots weren’t falling. We never had momentum, and yet we never gave up. We’ve taken losses, but we don’t look defeated. That’s a pretty important distinction.”
