BISMARCK — The North Dakota Game and Fish Department announced it will again participate in Operation Dry Water, an effort to increase enforcement and knowledge of boating under the influence from Friday, July 3 to Sunday, July 5.

The objective of Operation Dry Water is to reduce the number of accidents and deaths caused by drug and alcohol use on state waterways.

Over Fourth of July weekend, game wardens will be on the water to inform boaters of safe boating practices and remove impaired operators from the water.

Alcohol and drug use can impair boaters' vision, judgement, balance and reaction time, the department said.
