When things got close, the Dickinson High girls basketball team did what they do best -- got big shots from the outside from sharpshooting guards.
Brie Lynch and Ashley Krieg had big games from the perimeter and the Midgets held on to defeat Custer County (Mont.) 51-48 on Friday night at the DHS Gymnasium.
Lynch hit a pair of 3-pointers and scored a team-high 13 points and Krieg went 5 of 6 from the field with one 3-pointer for 11 points.
"Ashley Krieg gave us a big spark off the bench tonight," Dickinson coach Greg Jung said. "She's been struggling shooting a bit, it was kind of nice for us to find her touch."
Lynch, meanwhile, fought off a touch of illness to lead the Midgets.

"She really made some big shots in the second half," Jung said. "Between her and Ashley, it was a real nice lift for us from the perimeter."
The game was tight throughout. The Midgets held a 27-26 halftime lead and stretched the lead a bit in the second half before Custer County cut into it.
The Cowgirls held a 35-26 edge on the boards and shot 38 percent from the field.
Dickinson, meanwhile, was 41 percent from the field and 4 of 7 from beyond the 3-point line.
The Midgets (8-10) cap their regular season at home Tuesday against Mandan (10-7).
Jung said keeping the turnovers to a minimum is key against the Braves.
"It's something we have to build on," Jung said.
