BISMARCK -- Pitching was at a premium Thursday night in a West Region softball game between Dickinson High and Bismarck Century.
Century's Sarah Lardy got the best of Dickinson's Haley Butterfield in the first game after Cassidy Miller drove in Allie Holland for the game-winning run in the eighth inning, giving the Patriots a 2-1 victory.
In the second game, Kelsey Lafond and Madison Jahner combined to limit Century to just four hits and struck out five while getting help from her teammates at the plate to lift Dickinson to a 3-1 victory.
"We started playing some pretty serious softball out there, from top to bottom," Dickinson head coach Bill Butterfield said. "We made the plays and we got the hits. We were very well-rounded. Our pitching was tremendous. It was great games to be a part of."
Lexi Yates had a two-run double in the second inning and added a home run in the fifth to drive in all of Dickinson's runs in the second game.

"That's real good for Lexi," Bill Butterfield said. "She's starting to come around. We know the power has been there."
Brianna Flynn drove in Century's only run of the nightcap in the first inning.
The Midgets (11-7, 8-6 West) host Belcourt at noon Saturday at Gress Softball Complex.
