Swimming in your home pool does make a difference.
That's what Dickinson swimmer Madison Porter believes and that's an advantage she'll have when the Williston-Dickinson Invite takes place Saturday at the West River Community Center.
Williston and Dickinson have a girls swimming and diving co-op and Dickinson gets one meet per year.
"It's nice to swim in our own pool," said Porter, who is one of three seniors for Dickinson that swim for Williston. "It (will be) kind of like how we swim every day. It's going to be nice."
Porter is hoping to better her qualifying times, which will certainly take some effort. She's already made her mark as one of the state's best swimmers, boasting the fourth-best time in the 100-yard butterfly (1:00.56) and the fifth best time in the 200 freestyle (2:01.83). She also has the 10th best time in the 50 free with a 25.76.

"I'm happy with it," Porter said of her senior year. "I like the butterfly. It's my best (race)."
The other two seniors are Tyler Reed and Alexis Klug.
Klug, who missed last year with a shoulder injury, has come back to post the ninth best time in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:13.31).
Klug and Porter make up two legs of a 200 freestyle relay that sits second in the state with a time of 1:45.56. Porter is the third leg on the state's fastest 200 medley relay, which has a time of 1:53.56.
"We're pretty proud of that," Porter said.
Dickinson sophomore Alexa Martel also has a state-qualifying time, swimming a leg in the state's seventh-fastest 400 freestyle relay that has a time of 3:56.40.
