DILLION, Mont. - This weekend’s road trip to Utah and Montana wasn’t kind to the Dickinson State men’s basketball team.
After a huge loss to Westminster College (Utah) Thursday, the Blue Hawks couldn’t bounce back as Montana Western defeated them 91-68 Saturday afternoon.
Junior and freshman guards Tevin Russell and Jacob Volk led DSU with 15 points each as well as had three rebounds apiece. Junior post Mackenson Odenier had a team-high six rebounds.
The Blue Hawks struggled to find the net against Bulldogs and went 22 for 58 (38 percent) and 5 for 21 (24 percent) in 3-pointers.
The Bulldogs shined on offense, with four players in double-digits combining for 56 points and were led by Jake Owsley with a game-high 21. Western gained over a third of its points from the free-throw line, making 35 of its 42 (83 percent) attempts.
DSU looks to get a win in its final home game of the season and hosts Carroll College at 4 p.m. Saturday.
