DULUTH, Minn. - The Dickinson Roughriders American Legion baseball team struck for six runs in the top of the seventh inning on Tuesday to create some much-needed separation from Duluth Lakeview (Minn.) in an eventual 16-10 victory.
After trailing 8-3 after three innings, Dickinson scored its final 13 runs in the final three frames to escape with the win.
The Roughriders collected a dozen hits in the contest but also had three errors. Duluth also had 12 hits but was undone by five miscues in the field.
"Offensively they were great, defensively it was not our best performance," Roughriders head coach Stephen Greenwood said.
Dickinson's Treven Hopfauf went 2 for 4 at the plate and drove home six runs on the strength of two bases-loaded doubles.

"Treven was clutch at the plate today," Greenwood said.
Tanner Ouellette, Cam Jorda and Sam England all recorded two hits as well. Ouellette had a double, an RBI and scored twice; Jorda drove in two runs and scored three times; and England scored twice and had one RBI.
Cody Maier, Shawn Steffan, Ethan Dietz and Lucas Jones all added single hits.
Dickinson's Colton Jones was roughed up for five earned runs on six hits in 1 1/3 innings. Eli Jung, Steffan, Jorda and Maier all followed in relief throughout the game.
It was Jorda who picked up the win after coming on in the fifth inning with a runner on base. He pitched two spotless innings, allowing just one walk.
"Everybody got a little bit of work," Greenwood said. "Colton did really well, exactly what we asked. He commanded his pitches, but they were hitting the ball hard off him. He stayed away from the walks. The box score doesn't show it, but he pitched really well in my opinion. ... Cam kind of took over the game once he came in."
Greenwood said the team had a "heart-to-heart" prior to the fifth inning, and he was pleased with how they responded.
"I asked the boys if they're proud of how they're carrying themselves and how they're playing and they said no," Greenwood said. "We needed to see more fight and more energy. We have the ability to beat anybody we step on the field with."
