MINOT - Seventh-seeded Dickinson High lost its first match of the West Region Volleyball Tournament on Thursday, a 3-0 sweep at the hands of No. 2 seed Bismarck Legacy.
Set scores were 25-17, 25-16, 25-18.
Mariah Mortensen led the Midgets with six kills and Morgan Kainz followed with three. Mortensen also had two blocks. Sarah Dobitz led Dickinson with 18 digs, and Marley McChesney tallied seven assists. Lauren Jorda and Paige Schweitzer each had two aces, and Jorda had five assists.
Sydney Murphy and Brita Feland each led the Sabers with nine kills, and Mercedes Baumgartner and Whitney Thomas each added eight. Feland also had four blocks.
With the loss, Dickinson will face No. 6 seed Mandan in a loser-out match at 3 p.m. Central Time today. With the win, Legacy moves on to face Jamestown in the semifinals.
