Solano leads Dickinson State wrestling at Nebraska tournament

HASTINGS, Neb. - Dickinson State’s Jon Solano won the 184-pound class during the Hastings Tournament Saturday. Seven Blue Hawks placed during the meet. Solano, a junior, was 4-0 for the tournament.
Cody Johnson, at 174 pounds, went 3-1 during the tournament to earn runner-up in his weight division.
Seth Ehlang and Taylor Hodel were third at 149 pounds and 165 pounds, respectively, and were each 3-1 for the day. Hudson Buck and Trevor Conrad each earned 4-1 tournament records and were both fourth in the 197-pound and heavyweight classes, respectively. At 125 pounds, Brice Gorsline made it to the fifth and sixth place match and was 2-2.
As a team, Schlecht said, DSU totaled 16 pins.
“That’s something we drill and work on in practice and trying to get near falls,” Schlecht said. “We obviously did a good job of that. We also talked about getting them on their back and looking for pins. They did a great job of that.”
