HAZEN - After a scoreless first quarter from both teams, Southern McLean and Hazen traded touchdowns for each of the last three quarters. Each team found the endzone three times, but the difference came down to the two-point conversions in a 20-18 victory for Southern McLean.
Southern McLean converted its first while Hazen was unsuccessful on all three attempts, including a pass in the fourth quarter that would have tied the game at 20.
Cardinals’ quarterback Cameron Hall completed only five passes, but three of them were for touchdowns. He finished 5 of 14 for 168 yards, including the game-clinching 10-yard strike to Cody Blaek in the fourth quarter.
With the win, Southern McLean finishes the season at 3-5 and out of the playoffs, while Hazen, which clinched a postseason berth already, finishes out the season at 6-2.
