BISMARCK - In the words of Dickinson High head volleyball coach Jay Schobinger, it was a tale of two teams.
On one hand, the Midgets were fierce and battling until the bitter end. On the other hand, Dickinson looked timid, nervous and inexperienced.
Both teams showed up during a West Region match on Tuesday as Bismarck St. Mary’s defeated the Midgets in four sets 22-25, 25-14, 25-6, 25-23.
“Tonight was basically a tale of two teams,” Schobinger said. “First and fourth set our girls played really well. We did a lot of very nice things and we played with energy. Played the way we are capable of playing. In the second and third set, we couldn’t get anything going and we didn’t play with the same energy.”
Madison Schobinger led Dickinson with 15 assists, two blocks and two aces. Keely Hutchens and Sierra Rohr each had six kills. Rohr added three blocks. Marissa Schroeder supplied four kills and two blocks, while Mackee Hoffmann had a team-high 18 digs.
The Saints had three players with double-digit kills. Kaylyn Herold led the team with 17 kills, followed by Mary Roller with 14 and Katelyn Schaffner with 12. Allie Reisenauer had a game-high 43 assists and Caitlin Bakke and Roller each posted 18 digs.
The Midgets continue their week traveling to Mandan at 6 p.m. Thursday and Minot at 5:30 p.m. Saturday.
