HS Athlete of the Week - Dawson Wilson
Dawson Wilson, an eighth grader on the Dickinson High boys swim and dive team finished tenth in the 1-meter dive with a score of 325.9 at the state championships in West Fargo on March 2 and 3. He also swam on the 400-yard freestyle relay team which placed 13th with a time of four minutes and 5.55 seconds.
DP: How long have you been swimming for?
DW: "This is my sixth year."
DP: How did you get into swimming?
DW: "My mom was like 'Do you want to get into another sport in the winter?' and she picked swimming for me.
DP: What's your favorite part about it?
DW: "I like doing the meets. Practices are a little hard for me sometimes, but the meets are always the fun part."
DP: How do you feel the season went this year?
DW: "I felt like it was pretty neat because I got 10th in diving and it was pretty fun."
DP: If you could only eat one food for the rest of your life what would you choose?
DW: "I'd probably do something with carbs if I'm swimming, so something like spaghetti or alfredo."
DP: Do you have a favorite television show?
DW: "Not really, whatever is on the TV I'll usually watch."
DP: Who has been your biggest inspiration to succeed?
DW: "Probably my brother because me and him are kind of like rivals but we're still family so we kind of try outrunning each other."
