MINOT -- The Dickinson Trinity got it done with defense for the second game in as many days.

The Titans had 25 steals and Gretchen Weir led the way with 15 points and seven rebounds in a 52-31 win over Des Lacs-Burlington on Saturday afternoon at the Shootout on the Prairie at the Minot Auditorium.

"We talked about setting the tone of the game early with our defensive pressure," Trinity head coach Alysia Barman said. "I thought the girls really came out and did a good job doing that."

Jillian Stockert scored 14 points and Rachel Jahner added 10 points and five assists for the Titans.

Taylor Murphy led the Lakers with 12 points and six rebounds.

Trinity (2-0) forced 29 turnovers and had a 39-28 edge on the boards.

The Titans' next task, however, could be the toughest they face all season. They host Minot Ryan, the team No. 1-ranked in the Miss Hoopster preseason power, at 7 p.m. Friday. They follow that with home games against New Town on Dec. 28 and Beach on Jan. 3.

"It was good for us this weekend, a good confidence booster," Barman said. "We've got a couple tough weeks coming up there, playing some very, very good basketball teams. This weekend was nice to help us prepare for the games we have ahead of us."
