Two Dickinson High Midgets individually advance to final day at state meet

Dickinson High freshman Brianna Ashworth and senior Leah Grove will move on to the final day of individual competition at the North Dakota girls state swimming and diving meet today thanks to their performances Friday in Bismarck.

The top 16 swimmers in each event make into the final day of competition, and Grove barely squeaked in during the 100-meter backstroke with her time of 1 minute, 6.09 seconds - good enough for 16th. She was also 14th in the 100 freestyle with her time of 56.55.
Getting herself into the top 10, Ashworth completed the 200 individual relay in 2:19.24 to earn ninth. Ashworth also finished the 100 backstroke in 11:11.82, which gave her 13th place in the race.
Junior Haley Rodakowski was just shy of advancing, as she was 17th in the 100 butterfly with a time of 1:06.48. DHS Hannah Rathgeber was 22nd in the event by finishing in 1:08.40.
Eighth-grader Korie Riely was 18th and 23rd for times of 5:42.85 in the 500 freestyle and 2:07.55 in the 200 freestyle, respectively. Also in the 500 freestyle, seventh-grader Kara Wanner was 30th with a time of 6:01.19.
In 1-meter diving, seventh-grader Jaydin Decker was 30th with a score of 123.55.
