GRAND FORKS, N.D.-The new Fighting Hawks logo has made its first appearance on University of North Dakota athletic wear.
On Tuesday morning, UND revealed football helmets adorning the recently released Fighting Hawks logo.
"The players are going to like the new look," UND coach Bubba Schweigert said. "They have a new logo, a new name and they'll embrace it. It's a new era, and we're going to accept the change and be a leader in promoting the change."
The new look includes a Fighting Hawks decal on one side of the green helmet with a decal of a player's number in white lettering on the other side of the helmet.
The UND football program had featured the interlocking 'ND' on its helmets continuously since 1969.
