VALLEY CITY - The Dickinson State women’s basketball team found itself down by three points, 38-35, to Valley City State at halftime.
But the Vikings outscored the Blue Hawks 25-16 to snag the 63-51 North Star Athletic Association win on Saturday.
Paitton Herbst and Hailee Farstveet led DSU with 18 and 12 points, respectively, and Megan Klein grabbed 16 rebounds. The Blue Hawks were active from 3-point range, especially in the first half. The team was 8 for 15 and finished 10 for 22 overall. Ashley Bentz hit three 3-pointers to supply nine points and Herbst made four of her seven attempts.
Valley City had three players finish in double digits. Both Sierra Even and Georgia Williams finished with 15 points and Courtney Dixon added 14. Williams also supplied four steals, two assists, two blocks and two rebounds, while Even provided seven rebounds and four assists. Sadiqah Jihad had a game-high eight assists and three points.
The Blue Hawks return home to host Presentation College (S.D.) in a NSAA game at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.
