Viterbo sweeps Blue Hawks baseball with two more wins on Friday

LA CROSSE, Wis. - The Viterbo University (Wis.) baseball team defeated Dickinson State twice on Thursday, March 22, and earned another win on Friday afternoon by way of a 14-0 shutout. In the nightcap, the Blue Hawks (1-13, 0-4 NSAA) put up a fight, but still fell to the V-Hawks (7-22, 4-0 NSAA) 8-6.

Dickinson State led 5-0 after three and a half innings, but the V-Hawks scored one in the fourth and four in the sixth to tie the game. The Blue Hawks added one more in the top of the seventh with a homerun off the bat of senior TJ McCullough, but the V-Hawks won it in the bottom of the inning.

Senior Jacob Cuch took over for sophomore Kooper Ray on the mound. He walked two of the first three batters he saw and when sophomore Joe Cliver stepped up to the plate, he hit a three-run homer for the walk-off win.

The Blue Hawks outhit the V-Hawks 12-9 in the outing, with Dylan Skabo, Trevor Oldham, McCullough, Lucas Rissler and Karson Sweeney each earning two hits.
