Titans reign over Wildfire in season opener

MOTT — The Dickinson Trinity volleyball team opened its defense of the Region 7 volleyball championship in convincing fashion, cruising to a three-set sweep of Mott-Regent 25-13, 25-7, 25-8 on Thursday, August 30 from the Mott Armory.  

The Titans produced a balanced attack, with five girls connecting with at least four kills led by senior outside hitter Bre Tessier and sophomore middle hitter Amaya Willer with five each.

Tessier, along with senior setter Alexa Walby paced the team with a pair of Aces. Leading Dickinson Trinity with 22 assists, Walby also added seven digs, followed by senior outside hitter Farrah Zeller with six.

Senior middle hitter Masy Kuntz had a solid game, leading the team with five blocks, while also collecting four kills and four digs.

In front of the charge for the Wildfire was senior outside hitter Bree Friedt. She led all players on the court with eight kills and chipped in seven digs.

The Titans improve to 1-0 in the early season. Mott-Regent drops to 1-1 after collecting a closely-contested five-set win over Flasher from Kayleen Meckle’s first win as Wildfire head coach.
