DSU wrestling drops final dual to Northern State
ABERDEEN, S.D. — If two Dickinson State wrestlers had won by technical fall rather than a decision, Saturday’s outcome could have been different. The Blue Hawks fell to North State University 25-21 in their final regular season competition on Saturday, Feb. 10.
The open 133-pound match was the difference for the Wolves.
Two Blue Hawks won by way of fall, starting with 125-pound freshman Matt Hruby who downed Northern State’s Juan Castellanos in two minutes and 31 seconds. Heavyweight Casey Jones pinned opponent Justice Horn in 1:11.
In the 141-pound match, sophomore Jaime Mullins won in dramatic fashion with a 6-4 sudden victory.
Junior Jason Zecchini and sophomore Cody Johnson won by decisions in the 184- and 197-pound matches, respectively. Results SaturdayNorthern State (S.D.) 25, Dickinson State 21125: Mathew Hruby (DSU) fall Juan Castellanos (NS), 2:31.133: Jens Knutson (NS) over open. 141: Jaime Mullins (DSU) SV Josh Moore (NS), 6-4.149: Griffin Hieb (NS) dec.
