BELCOURT - The Dickinson High wrestling team won its first WDA championship since 2003 with a team score of 194 points, narrowly defeating the consistent champion Bismarck High, which earned 188.5 points at Turtle Mountain Community High School on Saturday, Feb. 9.
The Midgets brough 17 wrestlers to the tournament and record 16 qualified for state. Senior Tate Nordby and Tanner Jarrett earned first-place in the 160- and 182-pound weight classes, respectively.
Brendan Johnson (120), Jaren Berger (132), Troy Berg (138) and Caleb Usher (170) each finished second. Kameron Clark (220) earned third, while Jaxon Torgerson (152) and Henry Nelson (113) finished fourth. Houston Crimmins (106) placed fifth and Wyatt Raines (195), Dexter Carpenter (152), Matthew Meschke (145) and Cullen Murphy (126) picked up sixth-place finishes.
Also earning a spot at state, Cody Booth (138) finished seventh and Dawson Richter (113) finished eighth.
