Yoder captures WDA individual title

BISMARCK -- Setting a personal and course record in the process, Dickinson High sophomore Brady Yoder won the WDA Regional Meet on Saturday, Oct. 13 from McDowell Dam.

BISMARCK - Setting a personal and course record in the process, Dickinson High sophomore Brady Yoder won the WDA Regional Meet on Saturday, Oct. 13 from McDowell Dam.

Yoder completed the course in 15 minutes, 45.31 seconds, breaking his personal record by two seconds to win his sixth event in as many races this season.

Junior Aiden Jung followed with fifth top-10 finish of the year, taking ninth place with a time of 16:37.59.

Both Midgets boys and girls teams claimed seventh place in the event with the boys scoring 188 points and the girls earning a mark of 165.

The Lady Midgets were led by sophomore Symone Beld, who captured 17th with a time of 20:19.50. In 23rd, junior Aleigha Villars finished the 5K in 20:44.92, while senior Macy Gress was 30th with a time of 21:00.61.

Jamestown sophomore Meghan Ford won the event, out-racing the field with a time of 18:02.92.

Bismarck Century won its fifth WDA girls crown in seven years after topping all schools with a score of 75, five points ahead of runner-up Minot.

On the boys side, Williston won its first conference title since 2004, winning the event with a score of 49.

The meet was scheduled to be at the Parkhurst Recreation Center in Jamestown, the same site as the upcoming Class A state meet, but the event was moved due to weather.
