A strong area of low pressure located near North Platte, NE will make its way into the Sioux Falls, SD area by early Wednesday Morning, and then into southern Minnesota by Thursday. In doing so, this area of low pressure is bringing snow into our region which will likely continue through the remainder of the afternoon, and into the evening and overnight tonight.
Steady snow will continue to move into our region, and it will gradually increase throughout the afternoon. Continuing into the evening hours, the snow may be moderate at times, which will lead to increased snowfall rates. At the same time, the winds will likely continue to increase, bringing gusts upwards of 40 mph from the north. This will lead to areas of blowing and drifting snow.
Travel will be impacted this afternoon, and especially into the overnight tonight. Blowing and drifting snow and reduced visibility will be frequent.
The steady snow will continue into early Wednesday Morning, afterwards, it will likely begin a gradual decrease and may eventually give way to intermittent snow showers by the afternoon. Nonetheless, breezy conditions will continue and snow showers will remain likely in our region through the evening and into the overnight hours.
Between this afternoon and Wednesday Morning, around 7 to 16 inches of snow accumulations will be possible.

A few flurries and light snow showers may still be around on Thursday. Otherwise; expect mostly cloudy to overcast skies.
Temperatures will also make a large drop after Thursday, with highs on Friday reaching up to around 10°. Overnight lows will reach down to around -8° by Saturday Night, and with highs on Sunday likely only around 0°. Further drops in the temperatures will be likely heading into next work week.
